Administrator Registration
In this demonstration, we will show step by step how to create a Decent.ec administrator account.
Since the Decent.ec platform runs on the Polkadot blockchain, first, you need to connect to the blockchain by creating a Sporran crypto wallet. After that, using the crypto wallet, you can register on the Decent.ec platform itself.
Let’s see the process!
Adding the Sporran Extension to Your Browser
1. As the first step, we need to download the Sporran crypto wallet browser extension.
You can find the extension at: https://www.sporran.org/
2. Scrolling down the page, you will see that the extension is available both in the Chrome Web Store and the Firefox Add-on store.
In this demonstration, we will use the Google search engine, so we will go forward with that.
Click on the button labelled Chrome Web Store.
3. By clicking the button, you will get to the Chrome Web Store page of the Sporran extension.
Add the extension to your Google Chrome browser.
Click the **“**Add to Chrome” button in the top right corner.
4. A pop-up window will ask for confirmation that you really want to add the new extension to your Google extensions.
Confirm the addition.
Click the **“**Add to Chrome” button.
5. On the right side, a pop-up window will indicate that the extension has been successfully added.
6. If you want to check whether the new extension was really added to Google extensions, click the “Extensions” button on the right side of the address bar.
7. If the extension was successfully added to the list, the Sporran icon should appear in the dropdown menu.
Creating the Sporran Crypto Wallet
8. The next step is to create a Sporran crypto wallet.
In the “Extensions” dropdown menu, click on the Sporran icon.
9. When the registration window opens, accept the “Terms and Conditions,” then click the “Create Identity” button.
The Recovery Phrase
10. After clicking the button, a warning window will appear, telling you to write down the words of the wallet’s recovery phrase on paper and store it in a safe place.
WARNING! If you forget your password and don’t have the recovery phrase either, your wallet and its contents will be permanently lost!
Click the “I understand this - go to the phrase” button.
11. In the next window, the words of the recovery phrase will appear.
By hovering the cursor over each word, you can reveal them.
IMPORTANT! Be sure to write down the words in the correct numbered order!
Once you have written down the words, click the **“**Next Step” button.
12. In the following window, you need to confirm the recovery phrase words.
Click on the words one by one in the exact numbered order you wrote them.
Once the words are in place, click the “Next Step” button.
Setting the Password
13. If the word order is correct, the next step is to enter the password you want to use.
WARNING! For security reasons, the password must meet the following requirements:
- Minimum length of 12 characters
- Both lowercase and uppercase letters
- Special characters (e.g., punctuation marks)
If the password meets the requirements, the orange lock icon will turn blue.
Click the “Next Step” button.
14. After successful registration, a congratulatory window will appear.
To close the window, click the “OK” button.
Crypto Wallet Settings
15. From now on, you have an active Sporran crypto wallet, and the system will automatically log you in.
On this interface, you can customize your crypto wallet further.
Let’s see what options are available!
Click the arrow below the KILT logo.
16. In the dropdown menu, you can modify the following settings:
- Edit Identity name
- Remove Identity
- Reset password
Setting/Changing the Username
17. First, let’s see how to set a new username.
After registration, the system automatically generates a username, which you can change by clicking the **“**Edit Identity name” option in the dropdown menu.
Click “Edit Identity name,” enter your desired new username in the text box, and then click the checkmark.
Changing the Password
18. To set a new password, click the arrow below the KILT logo, then select the “Reset password” option from the dropdown menu.
19. Because the password is strictly confidential information, changing it is only possible by entering the recovery phrase.
Type the recovery phrase words in numbered order, then click the “Next Step” button.
20. The procedure and requirements for entering the new password are the same as during registration.
Decent.ec Platform Registration
21. To complete your registration, you need to link your existing Sporran crypto wallet with the Decent.ec platform.
The Decent.ec administrator platform is available at: https://staging.decent.ec/en
22. Once you navigate to the Decent.ec site, it detects the Sporran crypto wallet extension, and a window allowing the connection will automatically pop up.
Click the “Yes, allow this application access” button to permit the connection.
23. Then, click the “Join Now” button.
24. The Decent.ec registration page will appear.
Fill in the required registration information; accept the terms of use, then click the “Get Started” button.
25. The crypto wallet window will appear.
To connect, enter your crypto wallet password and then click the “Request Attestation” button.
26. If the data provided is correct, a green pop-up information window will notify you of the successful connection.
The system will automatically log you into the Decent.ec platform.
Now let’s see how to log back into the platform after logging out.
Logging into the Decent.ec Administrator Interface
27. To log in, go to https://portal.decent.ec/
Click the “Log in with KILT” button in the top right corner.
28. Next, the Sporran crypto wallet account selection window will pop up.
Here, you can choose which account you want to use to log into the Decent.ec application.
Since in this demonstration we only have the previously registered administrator account, we will proceed with that.
Click the “Next” button.
29. Enter the password for the account, then click the “Share” button.
30. If the password is correct, you will be logged into the platform.
